Summer in Karlovy Vary is incomplete without the colonnade concerts of the Karlovy Vary Symphony Orchestra.
Several times a week, the monumental Mill Colonnade resounds with music by world-renowned composers, performed by one of the oldest symphony orchestras in Europe. In the Czech Republic, it is even the oldest orchestra. It was founded in 1835 by composer, violinist, and conductor Josef Labitzky. This year marks the 190th anniversary of the orchestra's existence. However, its story began three decades earlier. In 1806, enthusiastic musicians from the Karlovy Vary area formed a spa band that played at the springs. The players met occasionally during the spa season, otherwise, each had other jobs. This gave rise to the tradition of popular colonnade concerts in Karlovy Vary.
Experience this unique blend of the beauty of our spa town and classical music performed by professional artists with experience on international stages.
