Hanami (花見) weekend
Hanami (花見) literally means “flower viewing” and refers to the Japanese custom of sitting under blossoming cherry trees, where people enjoy the beauty of spring, good food, and pleasant company. Today, it is celebrated in nearly every country where cherry trees grow, and you too can enjoy this festival with us at the Olympic Palace during the second long weekend in May.
Upon check-in, our reception staff will direct you to the two most beautiful spots in town, featuring stunning cherry blossom-lined avenues, so you can get into the festive spirit right from the start of your stay.
On Saturday and Sunday, baristas from the Karlovy Vary espresso bar Pinkiez will prepare your coffee at their cherry-pink coffee machine during breakfast, and you’ll also be able to sample their premium matcha, served both hot and cold.
Throughout the weekend, cherry blossom-themed drinks—including non-alcoholic options—will be available exclusively for purchase at the hotel lobby bar.
The highlight of our weekend will be a concert by the Sakura Quartet—ladies from the Karlovy Vary Symphony Orchestra and the Pilsen Philharmonic. They have prepared a unique concert full of Japanese and international melodies. Their performance will delight not only the ears but also the eyes of the audience, as the ladies will perform in traditional Japanese kimonos.
We are looking forward to this year’s Hanami and would be delighted to experience it with you at the Olympic Palace Hotel.
